Reasons AB/DL Individuals Seek Counseling/Coaching Services

The Diverse World of AB/DL

AB/DL is a diverse continuum.  From Extreme DLs to extreme ABs and everyone in-between.  I have come to know and love this community and all its members.  This includes those who participate in Age Play or Age Regressors.  For the past decade, I have become known as the expert in the mental health community regarding the needs of the AB/DL community.

AB/DLs from all over the world have benefited from my online coaching sessions.  AB/DLs struggle with the same mental health issues as the general population.  Because society does not understand who AB/DLs are, AB/DLs fear judgment and suffer from more shame, guilt, anxiety, and self-esteem issues.

I am Currently Accepting
AB/DL Clients

AB/DLs need mental health services for a variety of reasons.  These reasons range from general issues to issues specific to AB/DL.  This unique aspect of their lives often requires someone knowledgeable and nonjudgmental.

If you or someone you love is AB/DL (Age Play/Age Regression), I am available to meet with you and help in a safe, accepting, and empowering environment.

Common AB/DL, Age Play and Age Regression Questions

AB/DL stands for adult baby and diaper lover. The way people experience this varies widely. Many people who identify as an adult baby (also known as an age regressor or “Little”) have both an adult and a younger identity. Many diaper lovers don’t have a young identity, but they’re really into diapers. Most people in the middle are somewhere in between

AB/DL is not a sexual kink. But many AB/DLs are into sexual kinks. Many people call AB/DL a kink because they’re not properly informed. Here’s a blog post explaining why.

According to research, being an AB/DL does not make one a pedophile. Even if they enjoy wearing diapers, they do not want to have sex with children. Here is a post explaining this in more detail.

People who are part of the AB/DL community do not choose whether they want to be AB/DL or not. This lack of choice is the one thing that all AB/DLs have in common. It is a trait that is as much a part of them as their sense of humor or food preferences. A therapist cannot cure it, and it will not go away, no matter how hard they try.

The short answer is no. There is nothing psychologically wrong with those who enjoy wearing diapers, no matter the reason. The DSM 5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, version 5) does not include diaper lovers or adult babies. When a person is sexually aroused by wearing diapers, he or she may have a sexual fetish. However, this does not imply that they have a fetish disorder.

This is a good question. While sex therapists have more advanced education and experience with sexuality issues, we also work with many other issues besides sexuality such as managing relationships, mood issues, stress management, self-esteem & confidence, and life transition.

I realize that finding out about your child’s interest in regression or diapers is confusing. I encourage you to read my book, “You’re Not Broken: Dr. Rhoda’s Guide to Strong Self Worth for AB/DLs.” I am also glad to meet with you and help you understand what AB/DL is and how to help your child.

When you’re unsure of yourself, approaching a partner can be challenging. Please read my book, “You’re Not Broken: A Guide to Strong Self-Worth for AB/DLs.” I’d also be happy to meet with you and help you figure out how to approach your partner.

AB/DL is a unique characteristic, and it is not something an AB/DL chooses for themselves. However, age players act younger than their biological age and consciously decide to act that way. For more information, see this article.

If regression is involuntary, the Adult Baby is the same as an age regressor. The difference is that some AB/DL is sexual and they want to separate their regression from sexuality. While many are sexual, some are not. If age regression is voluntary, the age regressor is practicing a form of harmless age play. A recent social phenomenon has made age regression (in the form of age play) popular as a form of coping with stress or past trauma.
